First Tentative Steps – New Promo

Last night I finally got over my concern about writing a query letter.  It took a few days to get through that portion of the fun.  It was more difficult than I thought.

The key thing was not creating the letter itself.  That was relatively easy - once I did a lot of research.  The most difficult part was hitting SEND.  What if they don't like it?  What if they don't think it's any good?  What if it doesn't fit their market? What if they never bother to respond?  What if they respond and they don't like it? What if I'm no good at writing erotica?  What if all I'm good at is short stories?

Do you see where my mind was going?  It drove me nuts.  I crawled down every rabbit hole I could find.  When I ran out of those, I dug my own.

Today, to avoid all that thinking, and to take things more into my control, I decided to create a marketing video for the book.  I keep learning how to use Doodly and it is working for me.  I'm not sure they had author's in mind as a target, but in the world of self-publishing something has to help you stand out.

The important thing is to keep trying various ways to introduce people to the novels I write.

I'm not a professional marketer, but I do believe that promoting the first book in the STAG-VIXEN JOURNEY series is important. Even if 1,000 tries fail, but one succeeds, then it is worth it.

Just like writing the query letter.  What tipped me over the edge was the simplicity of the following statement: If you don't send it - it's a no.  What do you have to lose?

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

What are the various ways you've marketed your book?

How do you draw attention to your book?  Is it only on Twitter, or do you go across various platforms?

Which of the platforms you are on help you the most about promoting your book?
